Want to enhance your lung power?

Do you have problems with your lungs? It’s unfortunately a common issue. Based on the latest data from the American Lung Association and CDC, over 35 million Americans are currently living with chronic lung disease — a category that includes asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and other conditions. This blog describes how aromatherapy oils can help support this vital part of the body.

My clinical experience with aromatherapy oils for lung issues

I have been working with aromatherapy oils for over thirty years now.  I love many things about them including instant results.  I had a woman in my office the other day who was coughing.   I asked her to put rosemary oil on her chest to stop the cough.  I used applied kinesiology and read that she needed more oxygen and that was why she was coughing.  She put the oil on and never coughed again for the duration of her visit.

What’s going on in your lungs?

The lungs are filled with millions of little sacs called alveoli. They are small, balloon-shaped air sacs that sit at the very end of the breathing tubes in your lungs. They are very important because they bring oxygen into your blood when you breathe in, and take carbon dioxide (CO2) out of your body when you exhale. This exchange keeps your body supplied with the oxygen it needs to work.

When the inflammation in the sacks is reduced there is more room in each sack.  This allows for more air and thereby more oxygen. Oils that reduce inflammation are useful to allow for more oxygen exchange in your lungs.

Aromatherapy oils for asthma

Many years ago, I was working with a young man who was in his mid-20s.  He had grown up with a mother who smoked cigarettes, which had negatively affected his lungs. The oil that matched him for lung support was peppermint.   He put it on his chest a few times a day and after a couple of days he could breathe better.

As time went on, he became heathier and heathier and had no lung issues at all. The reason I remember this fellow is that after he was doing better, he became a firefighter.   He had the lung power to do the hard work and as well as the lungs that could handle the smoke.

Many of these clients use inhalers by the time they come to see me.  As they start to use the oils, they find they need the inhaler less and less. I never tell them to stop the medication but their need for it seems to dwindle.  There are no steroids what are the problematic chemicals in the oils, thus fewer side effects.

Which aromatherapy oils work best for lung issues?

Some of my favorite anti-inflammatory oils are peppermint, rosemary, basil, lavender, and basil.  There are many choices and I use muscle testing or applied koniology to find out which oil to use.  The same problem in five different people can have five different solutions.

The oils are very concentrated, which is what makes them powerful. If I filled the average bedroom with rosemary leaves and distilled them down into aromatherapy oils it would make two cups of oil.

One of my favorite stories about aromatherapy oils comes from Egypt.  They were distilling the oils in clay pots five thousand years ago.  They would put big jars of oils in the graves of kings for their afterlife.  The graves were sealed stone rooms filled with gold and everything they would need for their afterlife.  The grave robbers broke into the room and stole only the aromatherapy oils and left the rest of gold and everything else behind.  The oils were so valuable they took only that.  Now the prices of the oils are not as precious but they are still very valuable healing tools.

Do aromatherapy oils help with COPD?

The oils help with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) as well.  I have two clients who happen to see the same pulmonary specialist.  Their doctor was pleasantly surprised that these two people were doing better than the rest of their clients.  I was using the aromatherapy oils for their lung issues, and doing a couple of other support things to help these ladies.

Each client told me the same thing at different times.  The doctor said all of his other clients with COPD were getting worse except these two women. The oils are amazing for so many of my clients.
