Grapefruit oil is great for working with adolescent melancholia and acne. It is cold-pressed from the rind of the grapefruit. I can be applied topically to troubled areas of the skin as a cleanser. This allows the person to take it in through the skin as well as the lungs. It disinfects, detoxifies, emotionally uplifts and can have an antidepressant effect. It is a great match for an adolescent with a troubled attitude.
It is often used for cellulite on the skin as well. Remember the grapefruit diets in the 80s and 90s? This may be where they got the idea.
Additionally, it can have a cleansing effect on the lymphatic system and kidneys. Like many of the oils we have profiled, this oil is versatile, healing, and non-toxic to the entire system. Consider that many dermatologists prescribe antibiotics for acne and other conditions of the skin. While that could be okay for temporary use, what are the ramifications to the immune system is they are used chronically for bad skin? Great food oil does not pose that same concern.
Like all oils, grapefruit oil can have different effects on different people. Since each of us has a unique biological makeup, it is best to consult with a certified aroma therapist and have them muscle test you for the appropriate oil using applied kinesiology. I am of certified aroma therapist and would be happy to consult with you about this and many other oils that could be of help.
